That story seems convincing.
In 2009-2011 we covered a huge mayoral bribery trial. The mayor of a midsized southern city, Larry Langford, was convicted on $235,000 in bribes to grease bond deals, leading to a MASSIVE boondoggle: a $3.2 billion sewer debt, contributing to the largest municipal bankruptcy in U.S. history.
I thought, even then, $235K seemed light for a big town mayor.
So $600,000 in a years-long deal for a sitting congressman?
