'Back in the 70's a researcher named Philip Brickman studied lottery winners and found that people who won big were no happier than anyone else within a few months. He called it the "hedonic treadmill." You get the thing, the feeling fades, you chase the next thing.
The Strive is the hedonic treadmill all over again, but it comes with a mandatory pair of white sneakers and a Claude Max subscription.'

Thinking about buying a seismic sensor for my Raspberry Pi.
"Yeah, I know we're moving away from the seismically active zone of Switzerland, but you could record the shockwaves when he-who-must-not-be-named uses the nukes, you'd have first hand data! You'd be among the first to know that mankind is gonna end!"
Some days I'm not sure about the mental health of some of my inner voices. Especially since it said "when", not "if".

Calling tinkerers, hardware hackers, and mesh enthusiasts:
I have the following components:
I have some rudimentary code that can pull sensor data, meshcore-cli is working via USB/serial connection, and can access the display.
Now I just need ideas on what to do with these parts. Any thoughts?

Just in case anyone was hoping GrapheneOS would support face unlock, even as an option disabled by default, even for the Google Pixel devices with busted-by-design fingerprint sensors: lol keep fuckin' dreaming, noob. Much like Linux in 2026, GrapheneOS isn't about choice. It's about you quietly falling in line and adjusting your expectations, you ungrateful fuckhead leach deserving of mockery and derision and the questioning of your virility and political alignment.

anyone know an equivalent drop-in replacement for the Humirei HS-1101/HS-1100 humidity sensor? the 1100s aren’t being made at all anymore, and only clones of the 1101 are being made. i have no issue with using clone components (the one I’m replacing is a clone) but this general style of sensor seems incredibly fragile and prone to falling out of calibration. (the one I’m replacing had, and then broke when I tried to take it apart to clean/investigate it)
