Yes there were trade-offs, but the core functions that people wanted were there.

When we switched to mobile phones, carriers were given grace for the technology- dropped calls, sound quality, reliability, etc. the public was told to just accept these limits and we largely did. With advent of supposed “AI”, we are seeing the same pattern. Companies are slashing staff while issues rise in services due to sloppification. We need to be careful about letting service quality degrade while giving it a pass for AI errors. Demand BETTER, not WORSE!
