The Trump administration has been clear in its targeting of the Somali and Latino communities through Operation Metro Surge.
President Trump called people from Somalia “garbage,”
said “we don’t want them in our country,”
and told them to “go back to where they came from.”
Following Trump's comments, ICE and CBP agents have indiscriminately arrested
— without warrants or probable cause
— Minnesotans solely because the agents perceived them to be Somal…
Something that has been bothering me since the start of the Isreal-US conflict with Iran is this idea that the war will be won quickly because Iran is just a bug to be crushed under the boot of the US military. I really get the feeling that people have this massive misunderstanding of the size of Iran, thinking it to be a small country where very few people live. That couldn't be further from the truth.
Just by numbers, Iran is about 1/6 the land mass of the United States. It's…

A rare daylight #fireball coming with a loud bang was seen and heard Tuesday morning over the U.S. and Ohio in particular: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dHBjApk3d6w - see https://skyweek.wordpress.com/2026/03/12/allgemeines-live-blog-ab-dem-12-marz-2026/ for links to many more reports. And https://ares.jsc.nasa.gov/meteorite-falls/events/windfall-oh says: "Signatures of falling meteorites are seen in data from three weather radars [...] NASA Meteoroid Environment Office finds that this was a 2m diameter object weighing around 6 metric tons - more of a small asteroid than a large meteoroid. [...] There are meteorites on the ground around Windfall, OH towards River Styx, OH."
David Cronenberg, master of body horror movies, was born today (March 15) in 1943 (during World War II!)
I saw his films 'Crash' and 'Naked Lunch' early, around the same time, in 1997 or 1998. Since then, I've seen many more of his- I just counted, I've seen 13 of his 23 films, and I've loved all of them. I'm a huge fan. My favorite was Shivers for a while. I'm not sure what it is now. Gotta see those final 10!
Happy birthday, David. We love …

The entire machinery of online discourse around building and creating has been so thoroughly captured by entrepreneurial "logic"
that we've lost the language to describe what it feels like to simply make a thing that helps someone,
give it away, and move on with your life.
I've been feeling this for a while now, and I suspect a lot of folks who have the itch to build feel it too, even if they haven't articulated it.
