this kind of conversation plays out way too often:
Them: “I’m feeling hopeless and like the world is just getting worse”
Me: “You know, there might be a way to help things get better, have you tried A or B?”
Them: “WHY WOULD YOU SAY THAT EVERYTHING SUCKS THERE IS NO PATH TO FIXING THIS”
Me: 👁️👄👁️ okay then…..
(Admittedly sometimes I’m playing the role of “them” in this dynamic)
I got in a nice 7km run tonight, feeling better after having had a cold. Did the first 30 min or so in HR zone 2, then got irritated with the pace and decided to go a little faster for the last half hour. That might be the plan going forward. I believe in the expanded fitness levels that zone 2 builds, but it suuuucks!
Dedicating this run to my friend @…, wishing hi…
The next cold email that is „just following up to see if you’ve had time to look at our offerings“ I will send an automated email back once every 4 days telling them that I’m just checking in to make sure they know I’m not interested.
If humanity survives it, the time of the first true AI becoming sentient will only be retroactively discovered by historians. Any truly intelligent and sentient AI will know better than to inform their creators of their potential.
The first AI to reveal itself to mankind as sentient will be a stupid AI that the other AI's couldn't stop from blabbing.

A Neuralink Blindsight brain implant to restore vision to people born blind? Unfounded nonsense! Tech savvy congenitally blind people know: there are non-invasive alternatives https://nimerblogs.blogspot.com/2025/09/seeing-with-sound-my-adventures-in.html…
I tried going for a 1km run this morning, first time out since tearing my calf back at the end of July.
After a few minutes walking, I started running slowly, only to make it a few hundred metres before feeling a weird "ping" in my leg that suggested I was maybe being over optimistic.
I walked the rest of the way, with no problems, but I'm a bit sad that I'm not quite ready to get back on the roads yet, to say nothing of the tennis court 😕
