1/2 “My input stream is full of it: Fear and loathing and cheerleading and prognosticating on what generative AI means and whether it’s Good or Bad and what we should be doing. All the channels: Blogs and peer-reviewed papers and social-media posts and business-news stories. So there’s lots of AI angst out there, but this is mine. I think the following is a bit unique because it focuses on cost, working backward from there.”

I can't tell you how weird it is as a manager to go through burnout blossoming and then sinking in to become a morass of emotional exhaustion and feelings of utter uselessness — while, in parallel, hearing feedback from my reports about how I've helped them struggle through and in most cases escape their own burgeoning burnout over the past few months
Just out here using my own body as a stick to pull my reports out of the quicksand of burnout

In case anyone here has connections with the Python team: can you please tell them to update their docs on XML security? The way it is is quite misleading, and it's been annoying me for a while. I raised this a while ago in their issue tracker, but it got no reaction whatsoever. github.com/python/cpython/issu

Calamus 28 When I peruse the conquered fame of heroes
My surface reading is this is a celebration of the common man, perhaps soldiers, over the more famous generals and presidents. But this commentary encourages me to dig deeper.
First, to highlight the gay text...
the brotherhood of lovers ... Through youth, and through middle and old age, how unfaltering, how affectionate and faithful they were
Very homoromantic language! Male lovers who stay together through their whole lives, affectionate.
The last fillip here is Whitman's own stance: "pensive... filled with the bitterest envy". Whitman admires these lovers and envies them. That's a striking feeling to disclose!
