Let $X$ be a smooth complex algebraic variety. Assume that the fundamental group $π_1(X,x)$ is torsion-free nilpotent. We show that if the betti number $b_1(X)$ is less than or equal to $3$, then $π_1(X,x)$ is isomorphic to $\mathbb{Z}$, $\mathbb{Z}^2$, $\mathbb{Z}^3$, a lattice in the Heisenberg group $H_3(\mathbb{R})$ or $\mathbb{R}\times H_3(\mathbb{R})$. We study the positive Hermitian curvature flow for left-invariant metrics on $2$-step nilpotent Lie groups with a left-invariant complex structure $J$. We describe the long-time behavior of the flow under the assumption that $J[\mathfrak{g}, \mathfrak{g}]$ is contained in the center of $\mathfrak{g}$. On finitely generated left nilpotent braces
A description of finitely generated left nilpotent braces of class at most two is presented in this paper. The description heavily depends on the fact that if $B$ is left nilpotent of class at most $2$, that is $B^3 = 0$, then $B$ is right nilpotent of class at most $3$, that is $B^{(4)} = 0$. In addition, we construct a free object in the category of finitely generated left nilpotent braces of class at most $2$.

We prove that, over a field $\mathbb{F}$ of odd characteristic $p$, a companion matrix $C$ is the sum of $E$ and $N$, with $E$ $p$-potent (i.e. $E^p = E$,) and $N$ nilpotent, if and only if the trace of $C$ is an integer multiple of unity of $\mathbb{F}$.

Inspired by orbit parametrizations in arithmetic statistics, we explain how to construct families of curves associated to certain nilpotent elements in $\mathbb{Z}/m\mathbb{Z}$-graded Lie algebras, generalizing work of Thorne to the $m\geq 3$ case and the non-simply laced case. Rost nilpotence for twisted Milnor hypersurfaces
We show that the strong Rost nilpotence holds for motives of generic hyperplane sections of twisted Milnor hypersurfaces. Hence, we provide a new family of examples of smooth projective algebraic varieties which satisfy the strong Rost nilpotence principle. As an application, we compute the $p$-canonical dimension for such varieties.
