the shitty City of Toronto awarded the Reverend Maggie Helwig the Toronto Book Award for her book "Encampment: Resistance, Grace and an Unhoused Community" about an encampment at St. Stephen-In-The-Fields Church, in Toronto’s Kensington Square neighborhood. Then, less than 24 hours later, City workers under police protection violently tore it down, evicting its residents onto the streets 🤬
