Am reading a bit about nations vs states & also about minorities in Ukraine, mentally comparing a couple of books.
It's early days but I'm realising that my concepts of what is a nation, what is a minority etc are maybe very different to concepts used in Europe??
My reaction to paragraphs about having multiple religions/languages in one nation is: yes, that's normal, mate.

In the current times we see that the theoretical framework of realism in world politics is getting more important. Ofcourse people are disappointed about the rule and principal based world order becoming less important. But at the same time states have to defend the interests of their citizens.

Apologies for the rant about religion, just, I'm never going to not be mad and disappointed in the US and the foolish things people expected me to believe.

Es wäre ein Schaden für die Demokratie, wenn eine Verwaltung rechtswidrige Verfahren zuließe. Aber ist es nicht ein größerer Schaden, wenn staatliche Verwaltung mit parteipolitischer Führung rechtmäßige Verfahren versuchen durch vorgeschobene Bedenken zu verhindern, statt dem Volk zu seinem Recht zu verhelfe?
Dann muss man sich fragen, wem der Staat dient: willkürlichen Parteiinteressen oder dem Willen des Volkes?

Wann endlich werden die Leute begreifen, dass die Sorge einer Mutter um ihr Kind dieselbe ist, ob sie nun Muslima, Christin, Buddhistin, Religionslose ist, ob Iranerien, Ukrainerin, Palästinenserin, Russin oder Israelin.
Wir sind Menschen - und daraus leiten sich universelle Rechte ab, die unter keinen Umständen missachtet werden dürfen, weil wir selbst auch Menschen sind (oder zumindest vorgeben es zu sein, nicht nur biologische Wesen).
