There's still room to tune - shallow memory throughput is definitely suboptimal due to latency issues I need to chase - but with deep memory ngscopeclient ThunderScope is getting some pretty impressive performance.
2 channels @ 50M point memory depth (100M points per trigger) streaming at 7.5 WFM/s over LAN from across the building through a router. 40Gbase-SR4 from client to core switch and from core switch to router, then back to core switch, then 10Gbase-SR to the machine host…

Screenshot of ngscopeclient displaying 50M points of data from two channels as a time domain waveform, FFT, and waterfall updating at 7.5 Hz
Filter graph showing the subtract, FFT, and waterfall filters each completing in single digit milliseconds on the GPU

Not to mention that available foods may not be suitable.
The one time my wife and I had to use a food bank during COVID, we queued for a couple of hours, constantly derided for being shiftless and poor by the Baptist volunteers who ran the bank.
At the end, we were told to be thankful for what we received: a couple of pieces of fruit that would’ve killed my wife (anaphylactic allergies) and pasta, pasta sauce, and bread, all containing gluten (she has coeliac disease).

I think it's time to crack out the daylight lamp. I'm not feeling low - stressed to the eyeballs but not flat - but I do feel like I haven't woken up yet and I've been at work for two hours 😄 My daylight lamp was about £25 and it's been money very well spent. I use it as the light on in the room when I'm getting ready in the morning, rather than sitting staring at it for 20 minutes, and it just works.

«Stars, downloads, and dependency counts were always proxies for quality and trustworthiness. When the manipulation stayed artisanal, the signal held up well enough. Now that package management underpins most of the software industry, the numbers matter for real decisions: government supply chain requirements, investor due diligence, corporate procurement. The numbers are worth manufacturing at scale, and a prediction market would just make the arbitrage efficient»

I am trying to transfer a 30G Database from one server to another using mariabackup, mbstream and #socat. The transfer rate is pretty bad when I start the whole thing with #ansible, but it seems like I'm getting okayisch transfer rates if I copy the commands from the ansible files and run them by hand. Is t…

When Trump began his second term, conventional wisdom held that the resistance was moribund.
If that was ever true, it’s certainly not anymore.
This year has seen some of the largest street protests in American history.
Amanda Litman, a founder of Run for Something, a group that trains young progressives to seek local office, told me that since the 2024 election, it has seen more sign-ups than in all of Trump’s first four years.
Just this month, the Republican-domi…

“The promise of AI for engineers is getting rid of engineers.
Tools like GitHub’s Copilot write code, specs, review, and create pull requests. They create and run tests, and do so in the background while the developers engage in more productive activities, such as meetings.”
From my latest blog on @…
