Any #Microsoft #Alumni remember these musical gems? While waiting on concalls, I used to record the hold music from MCI Conferencing, Placeware, Live Meeting & found 3 of the source recordings.
> I remember talking to a designer who had left Avalanche to work somewhere else, and hearing his appreciation that the new place challenged him, really, to explain why an idea would be fun. I remember hearing the description for a mission in a weekly demo of new features, and all I could think was “but why is this interesting?”
Design is too often considered a form of magic where iteration will eventually lead to something good.

Someone, somewhere, on which platform I cannot remember, was asking if anyone listened to music through headphones while home alone. I’m doing that right now. Some music lends itself more to headphone listening, in my opinion.

#Madonna has produced a lot of music in over four decades—some good and some not my cup of tea. Among the good ones, “I’ll Remember”, from the soundtrack of the 1994 film With Honors, is definitely in my S tier of Madonna songs.
I remember blasting this on my 90s cassette player and thinking, 'I don't know what the hell is this awesome guy talking about.' 😎

This post made me think about another post in my timeline. It mentioned the "liberation of Germany from the Nazi regime" 80 years ago. This is how it's usually worded in 🇩🇪 up to this day but that phrasing sucks. It makes it sound like Germans were poor oppressed people and who just needed a bit of outside help to topple their government. Words matter though. Germans weren't being liberated. Germany was getting defeated (fortunately).
Why for all of us to take to heart?
Because we all need to remember that there are people in our circles for whom existence is resistance, which makes every single day a fight.
And we need to remember that it •matters• when we forcefully speak up for the humanity of others — or simply treat somebody who is vulnerable with basic decency and steadfast respect, in spite of the whole damned world.
And some days some little instance of one of those things — speaking up, decency, respect — that just feels like almost nothing in the moment might be the most important thing we do all day, and we won’t even know it.
Folks, please remember that while our focus this week has been on trying to get the families stuck under Israel’s bombs in the North to relative safety in the South, our families in the South need your continued support for the basic necessities of life.
You’ll remember Aseel as she was our very first Gaza Verified member.
Every week, she tries to raise $500 so she can feed her family of six.
Her fundraiser isn’t doing too well this week.

Why draw this strained, misaligned connection? Extending the phrase “state capture” as defined above to describe one state “capturing” another through diplomatic efforts makes little sense — until we remember all the deranged antisemitic conspiracy theories about Jews secretly controlling world governments or whatever.
