I fully believe this is a true story. Another part of this plan would undoubtedly have protected one’s verified status from being visible in any way to any other users, to avoid verified users getting harassed for their superior status. vmst.io/@vmstan/11456047853693

Fun fact: The original plan to verify your identity on Mastodon was to send a notarized copy of your drivers license or passport directly to Eugen Rochko along with a self-addressed stamped envelope, at which point he returned to you a 56-bit cypher that you could key into a specific section of your account profile to activate verification. Thankfully it was decided this plan wouldn’t scale well. It would have still been a better plan than sending your government ID in a damn Google Form.

If you want to be verified on Mastodon I can assist you with how to get verified through KeyOxide.
You can see that on my profile I'm verified there.
It uses public key cryptography...I've seen plenty of people on Mastodon that use KeyOxide.

I'm trying to figure out how to make the keyoxide.org appear as verified like it is on aspensmonster@tenforward.social.
I'm attaching an image so you don't have to visit the profile but you can see that my image and the profile both show the "verified" thing that Mastodon's system supports.

I'm back at DumbTube to look up Keyoxide tutorials and I can do something about it this time because this video is Creative Commons Attribution 3!
Only problem is I would need PeerTube I think unless I want to really trash the resolution...
