Policy Platform
The digital advertising industry has grown into a $750 billion juggernaut. It is largely unregulated, deeply opaque, and increasingly harmful.
Adtech companies extract personal data, enable fraud, and fund harmful and illegal content. These middlemen siphon value from advertisers and publishers while benefitting from the monetization of everything from AI-spam to sanctioned foreign propaganda—without advertisers evening knowing it’s happening.

“The society said any judgments it issued that were potentially seen as political would do ‘more harm than good.’”
The Royal Society has already made a political announcement: that it is perfectly fine with fascism and having fascists as fellows. As far as political statements go, it doesn’t get any stronger than that. The only thing they could do to make their point clearer is if they hang a “Nazi Bar” sign above their headquarters.

Sorry to miss it in person and that I cannot stay for the panels on: teacher, gender, inclusion, decolonisation, and future action. Lovely to see and hear so many wonderful colleagues even from a distance.
My fun memory was the cartoon by the talented (then PhD student) Kalifa Damani during my talk on silent exclusion at the REAL Centre in January 2020 before the world shut, and many fun moments with Pauline Rose over the years.
Congratulations! The achievements are remarkable.

Black and white cariciature of a woman in glasses and short bob (Prof Prachi Srivastava) in front of and pointing to a whiteboard with the words 'schooling within the lives of the child - silent exclusion' addressing an audience. The backs of two young women in chairs facing her are shown.
