A new study finds that composite metal foam (CMF) can withstand tremendous force—enough to punch a hole in a railroad tank car—at much lower weight than solid steel. The finding raises the possibility of creating a safer generation of tanker cars for transporting hazardous materials.

Composite metal foam endures over 1 million load cycles at 400°C and 600°C
New research shows that composite metal foam (CMF) is incredibly resilient at high temperatures, able to withstand repeated heavy loads even at temperatures of 400°C and 600°C. Coupled with the material's high strength-to-weight ratio, the finding suggests that CMF could be used in applications ranging from automobile engines to aerospace components to nuclear power technologies.

At -20⁰C memory foam is significantly less forgiving than at room temperature.

I went up to ace hardware to figure out what to do with the snow blower. I bought some stable and some sea foam ... and because it's the neighborhood ace hardware, I bought a can of soda pop.
