This Zorro guy, he checked "Asian" and "African" on a college application form. Thinks he can get away with it just because his family is from India and he was born in Uganda. The nerve of these people.

Having legal protection insurance is always a good idea to, but IMHO it’s absolutely essential for professors due to the particular context in which we work. But I find that it’s hardly ever discussed.
An obvious example is the question of the limits of academic freedom, but many potential issues are way more trivial. ⇢

So we've got $170 billion here. What should we do with it? Cure cancer? End hunger? Nah, let's use it to be cruel to people. #maga
@… Funny that they cited HP-UX being an “implementation of standard UNIX System V” as a major factor—when it wasn’t ;-)

Every now and then someone ask me to join some #XR protest: "This is so you, why don't you join?"
ME: Possibly, are we finally protesting personal responsibility and/in relation to/ the animal industry this time? Will the protest be (also) about animal agriculture subsidies this time?

All of this is of course completely hypothetical, but things like this do happen, and they can quickly get out of hand. So, better to be prepared! □

TIL: Conspiracy theorists' main drive for believing absurd things is: I have a vague but persistent feeling that someone is getting away with something.
And of course, they are right, we're all getting fucked (/me assumes the 1% isn't here).

Suppose a student fails a course, and this leads to the termination of their studies. If they can’t challenge the grades as such, they may choose to attack you personally and question your competence, allege that you’re biased, claim misconduct, or try to otherwise discredit you, which may easily lead to charges that have nothing to do with the original issue.
Will your institution defend you? Maybe, maybe not. They may decide that certain allegations must be investigated. ⇢
