I ❤️ this. When I read it, I immediately thought of “failed adoption.” That’s the term hopeful adopters use when they’ve “matched” w/ a “birthmother” while she’s pregnant, & she then changes her mind about relinquishing. A mother deciding to raise her child isn’t a fail. That baby gets to stay w/ its mom. It gets to hold on to its identity, its family, its heritage & ancestry. That’s a family preserved. & this adoptee calls that a win. A success.
