Happy Gotcha Day to Izzy! She came to live with us on July 11, 2020, and it’s been six years of sweetness and love. She was too scared to come out of her crate when we picked her up from the rescue van and too scared to walk up the front steps to our house. Now she is the sweetest dog and completely comfortable in our house. (Yes, the bangs are new. She’s on a medication that causes some dogs to grow more hair.)

Ok. I have to accept that I have a problem. Despite a massive cull a few months ago, my current Firefox tab count, across 4 windows, has crept up to 2020. This madness has to stop. Problem is that for each one I want to close, I have to load it and look at it to make sure I can handle letting it go. I may be some time. Wonder where this activity would fall with regard to our national 'GDP'.

[Bill/David Carradine:]
What Kent wears, the glasses, the business suit... that's the costume that Superman wears to blend in with us. Clark Kent is how Superman views us. And what are the characteristics of Clark Kent? He's weak, he's unsure of himself, he's a coward. Clark Kent is Superman's critique on the whole human race.

Both solar and wind power now produce more of the world's electricity than nuclear.
More importantly, they're the growth engines, ready to finally make a dent in the amounts of coal and gas used for electricity. And in the emissions arising from that!
Chart by Dan Schroeder on Bluesky.

Chart of 12-month rolling totals of world electricity generation by source, from January 2020 through February 2026. Over most of this time period, the order of the sources from largest to smallest was coal, gas, hydro, nuclear, wind, solar, other fossil (oil), bioenergy, and other renewables (geothermal). Wind generation has been rising, however, and solar has been rising even faster, so that solar surpassed wind in late 2025 and both solar and wind surpassed nuclear around the start of 2026. …
