Do wczoraj nie miałem pojęcia, że taki festiwal istnieje. Stoi za nim zapewne niewielki sztab ludzi z ograniczoną ilością czasu i energii. Nie wiem, co się działo za kulisami i nie byłem w pokoju, gdy podejmowano decyzje.
Wiem natomiast, czym jest kanał Zero.
I dostrzegam tu ogromną dysproporcję sił. Spore imperium medialne z zasięgami wśród odbiorców z prawej strony sceny politycznej kontra jakiś mały event, na którym odbywa się dyskusja na temat, który u tych prawicowych odbiorców mógłby "zażreć".
I dostrzegam też, że to wszystko dzieje się w czasie, kiedy pod przychodnią aborcyjną AboTak w Warszawie ustawiają się anti-choicerzy i hałasują całymi godzinami. Prezydent Warszawy mimo licznych próśb nie chce rozwiązać zgromadzenia. Jeśli przejrzycie listę zarejestrowanych zgromadzeń publicznych[1^], to znajdziecie multum zgromadzeń na Wiejskiej 9 zgłoszonych na wiele tygodni do przodu.
I dzieje się to w czasie i okolicznościach, w której wiele kobiet jest zmęczonych i wkurwionych na to, że obecna ekipa rządząca zdobyła władzę w 2023 na postulatach związanych własnie z aborcją - jakieś 3 lata po wielkich strajkach kobiet z 2020 - i nie dowiozła żadnego. W efekcie jest tak, że mamy wybory za dwa lata i sondaże wskazujące na to, że prawica w jakimś kształcie dojdzie do władzy.
Więc w tym kontekście odwołana dyskusja o aborcji na festiwalu w pcimiu dolnym oraz obecność w tej historii znanego medium prawicowego wybrzmiewa znacznie mocniej i wyzwala zrozumiałe emocje.
I na koniec - dorzućcie się na kolektyw Legalna Aborcja. Stronę internetową już chyba będą miały, ale jakiś dodatkowy sprzęt pewnie im się przyda.

Abstract: We consider a mixture of at most $k$ unit-covariance Gaussians in $\mathbb{R}^d$ whose means belong to a fixed-radius ball, with no separation or minimum-weight condition. Doss, Wu, Yang and Zhou (2023) proved that the minimax Hellinger risk is of order $\sqrt{d/n}\wedge 1$ and constructed a proper polynomial-time estimator with the slower general bound $(d/n)^{1/4}$; obtaining the sharp rate in polynomial time for fixed $k\geq 3$ was left open. We resolve this question. The key device is a moment-fiber range finder. A second-moment subspace controls the energy missed by projection. We then estimate finitely many one-free-index Hermite contractions. These vector-valued contractions recover every tensor component containing exactly one missed direction at the sharp $\sqrt{d/n}$ scale. Every remaining term contains at least two missed factors and is therefore controlled by the residual second-moment energy. The resulting subspace has dimension depending only on $k$. Exhaustive moment fitting in this constant-dimensional space produces a proper mixture and, together with the dimension-free moment characterization of Gaussian mixtures, achieves the optimal Hellinger rate in polynomial arithmetic time for every fixed $k$.

Very simple setup with a professional-grade telescope solar filter film (from Baader) and a small handheld Nikon J5 mirrorless camera.
I would recommend NOT to use those cardboard eclipse glasses for photography, it's way too easy to get it wrong and ruin your camera sensor (or worse, your eyesight if you look through e.g. a DSLR and it accidentally slips).
If you don't really know what you're doing it's much better to just enjoy an event like this directly with the eclipse glasses on your face. (It's safe to look directly during totality, and totality only.)
There will be plenty of pictures!

Abstract: We propose a superconducting single-mode microwave haloscope based on helical cavity resonators for the detection of ultralight dark matter axions over the mass range $10^{-18}$ to $10^{-13}\,\mathrm{eV}$. Building on the single-mode helical-cavity concept introduced by Bourhill et al. [Phys. Rev. D 108, 052014 (2023); arXiv:2208.01640], we use an inverse-design framework to develop practical resonator geometries compatible with superconducting niobium fabrication. The optimisation employs a figure of merit derived to minimise the measurement time required to achieve a fixed experimental sensitivity. Relative to the heuristic M\"obius-geometry benchmark, the best subtractively manufacturable bulk-niobium design achieves a figure of merit more than three orders of magnitude larger. An experimentally informed microwave interferometric readout model, incorporating measured electronics noise and active suppression of pump amplitude noise, is used to project the sensitivity of the proposed experiment. For an acquisition time of three months, the haloscope is projected to reach $g_{a\gamma\gamma}<10^{-11}\,\mathrm{GeV}^{-1}$ across more than four orders of magnitude in axion mass. The projected sensitivity extends approximately one order of magnitude below the current exclusion limits set by CAST, providing a practical pathway towards a high-sensitivity direct search for ultralight dark matter axions.

Abstract: Section 1502 of the Dodd--Frank Act, enacted in 2010, requires U.S.-listed companies using tin, tantalum, tungsten, and gold (3TG) from the Democratic Republic of the Congo and adjoining countries to disclose information on the minerals' origins. Concerns have been raised that the regulation may have induced a de facto embargo through avoidance of sourcing from the covered region. However, how the price responsiveness of mineral exports evolved under changing institutional and market conditions remains insufficiently understood. Since tungsten production in the covered region is concentrated almost entirely in Rwanda, this study examines the price responsiveness of Rwandan tungsten exports from January 2009 to December 2023.
Because missing export quantity data prevent continuous observation of export unit values, we apply the identification approach of Nakano and Nishimura (2025), combining monthly mirror trade data from UN Comtrade with exchange rates and a world average price. An importer fixed-effects model is estimated using export value as the dependent variable, with the sample divided into four periods according to changes in the institutional and market environment.
The results reveal substantial temporal variation in price responsiveness. A statistically significant negative price response is observed in Period 1 ($\eta=-20.814$, $p<0.01$), disappears in Period 2 ($\eta=1.814$, $p>0.10$), reappears in Period 3 ($\eta=-5.277$, $p<0.01$), and disappears again in Period 4 ($\eta=0.440$, $p>0.10$). Coefficient-difference tests confirm significant changes between Periods 1 and 2 ($p=0.0021$) and between Periods 3 and 4 ($p=0.0006$). These findings suggest that the price responsiveness of Rwandan tungsten exports varied substantially over time rather than following a uniform trajectory after the regulation.

It's only about $20,000 / ton****, which means $1m of metal*****.
So to answer my own silly question: no, it won't be economically viable to scalp the top few inches of topsoil and extract the lithium from it.
