Like... what good is 33 000 followers if less than 1/3rd potentially see your post and you get nearly no real engagement?
My Theory: While Politicians think they are using X/FB because “that's where the people are”, the data shows that the "people" beyond clicking ‘follow' never actually see them or engage with that person. Instead, what the profile is actually used for is self promotion. A known place where the *media* can pick up the relevant happenings of a politician.
Which then begs the question. Would said Mayor of Ottawa be able to do exactly the same thing, and engage with the same or more constituents on ottawa.place?

Ten prom z dzisiaj rana chyba nie powinien płynąć - bardzo trzęsło, wiało i huśtało, a rozkład był tylko teoretyczny. Miały pływać co 2h - 8am, 10am itd. - a wypływaliśmy kilka naście minut po 9 rano.

Sycylia to już inny świat, polecam każdemu pojeździć tu samochodem i dłużej pomieszkać - docenia się inne miejsca :D Jest bardzo połduniowo i inaczej - brudno, obskurnie, a jednocześnie klimatycznie.

Powrót za to jest cudowny - już mieliśmy swoją piekarnie, wiedzieliśmy, żeby po pros…

So we tried #nextcloud talk yesterday with friends and it was AMAZING. I first struggled with sound in-out but that was clearly my setup with external speakers and external camera. (really not the typical setup!)
But the 2h video call went totally smooth, good quality, no lag.
If you do videocalls with friends and family.. I can totally recommend nextcloud call - in my case hosted…

Heute dann gegen 14:45 Uhr doch noch #rausgeschafft, sodass ich kurz vor Ladenschluß bei der Bike-Zone Baden war, um ein Velorücklicht mit gelben Seitenmarkern (ja, aus Amiland 🤓) zu kaufen, das ich eigentlich nicht brauche, dort aber deutlich günstiger war als sonstwo. Das war ein guter Motivator für eine #Radtour

This is a really good assessment (why people are complaining BlueSky is “mean”), IMO.
It’s also true of Mastodon, for very similar reasons.
If I may mangle a line from “Grosse Pointe Blank”:
“if people are hot in your mentions, you did something to bring them there”
OTOH, BS and Masto have tools to manage that. (though they need improvement)
