Yesterday's evening hike... grand & far views, and looking much warmer than it was...
#LandscapePhotography #NaturePhotography #Photography

A path is leading through a wild mountain meadow with lots of flowers towards a group of spruces in the not too far distance. Yellow evening light is illuminating a section of the meadow, creating a glow and hard contrast with the shadowy area in the foreground. In the far back, the western flank of the Ammergauer Alps, incl. foot hills and region around Füssen. A layer of clouds is hovering close above the mountains, above that serene clear blue sky.
Panoramic view across mountain meadows with lots of flowers, patches of forests and fields in the foot hills of the Alps in the Allgäu region. A scattering of small villages and hamlets here and there. A layer of clouds is hovering close above the mountains in the distance, above that serene clear blue sky. In the foreground, yellow evening light is illuminating a section of the meadow, creating a bright glow and hard contrast with the shadowy areas even closer.

I've been doing a lot of reading over the past week about 3d physics engines for #GameDev, and how to make them perform on modern multicore hardware; and I'm increasingly wondering why people are not trying pure #functional physics engines, which *should* parallelise much more cleanly. The on…

I've long been fond of the phrase, "the bottom falling out of the bucket" as a reference in #Zen to a kind of irreversible awakening experience. It's used in the 12th c. *Blue Cliff Record.* This story appears to be from a century later, but it's nice (from Paul Reps' *Zen Flesh, Zen Bones*):

When the nun Chiyono studied Zen under Bukko of Engaku she was unable to attain the fruits of meditation for a long time.
At last one moonlit night she was carrying water in an old pail bound with bamboo. The bamboo broke and the bottom fell out of the pail, and at that moment Chiyono was set freel
In commemoration, she wrote a poem:

In this way and that I tried to save the old pail
Since the bamboo strip was weakening and about
to break
Until at last the bottom fell out.
No more water in th…

Listening to RNZ talking about 'Field days' I'm really feeling that our country - especially those in primary industry and they gov't they've bought - are dragging us backward at a disastrous rate. It's very depressing. These misguided, entirely self-interested people, seemingly devoid of anything resembling a conscience, really really depress me.
