When Elon Musk’s social media platform X launched a contest to promote its “Articles” feature,
the guidelines were explicit: Submissions “must not contain political, or religious statements.”
But when the company announced the winners on Tuesday, the results appeared to contradict those rules.
While the stated criteria emphasized high-quality writing and nonpolitical content,
more than $2 million in prize money largely flowed to users ranging from popular right-wing …
OK, so, hear me out:
Stranger Things always features songs that were popular at the time the story is taking place
and it starts in 1983, but the story has reached 1987
and it’s the final season
and they’ll have to feature one extra-notable contemporaneous song in the end credits of the final episode…
…and so…what if Stranger Things — •the entire series• — is a giant Rickroll??

It is silly and ludicrous to lump privacy-preserving webpage translation with GenAI and chatbots and LLMs. While I don't _regularly_ use the translation feature, I absolutely appreciate that the alternative would be something like Google Translate, a materially worse outcome. And, as others have pointed out, bundling a translation tool into the browser makes the web more accessible for people who do not know English. That is a good thing!
@… I'm using groups.io for the first time. (I know! Sorry, I usually avoid mailing lists.) It's very good, thank you for running this valuable service.
I found the locked topics feature very interesting. It never occurred to me to have that in a mailing list, since the underlying tech doesn't allow it. Does it work well in practice? Do people use it? The group I'm on uses it extensively.
A very tedious but fruitful activity for investing/trading: going back in time for a company of your choice and following stock price with replay feature in parallel with reading SEC filings and using google search tools to go back in time for the ticker and see what hits come up. 1/n

Hierarchies 😩... One of the biggest recurring time-consuming issues I sometimes encounter is making decisions about _where_ to put some (new or exisiting) code/feature, i.e. in which package, new or existing, considering: functional fit (topic), structural fit (pre-existing data format conventions with the rest of a package), and if possible, not introducing new dependencies as a result of new feature... Sometimes these three aspects are mutually blocking each other and it's so time cons…
So where’s actually the correct place to send a feature request to #KDE Plasma Addons?
Its GitLab readme says that I should “report bugs and feature requests in KDE's bugtracker under the plasmashell category”, but that requires me to choose a Component and there’s no “Plasma Addons” component or anything like that.
The bugs.kde page also says that I should, if I’m “not sure this is actually a bug, instead post about it at https://discuss.kde.org”.
So if each place tells me to post it somewhere different, where should I post it?
