The #UniversityOfGeorgia fall semester started yesterday (yes, we know, it's VERY early), and that means it's time to swap out the works on view in our study gallery. This fall, we're working with professors in art history, history (museum studies) and women's studies to pull works from the collection that their classes can use all semester long: Goya, Ronnie Goodman, a 19t…

Every three years, we work with curator Didi Dunphy to put together an exhibition of work by Georgia artists focused on a theme that then travels the state. The newest one is "Seams to Be: New Approaches to Textile Techniques," which opens at the Lyndon House Arts Center October 2 before moving on to the LaGrange Art Museum, the Morris Museum of Art in Augusta, the Museum of Arts and Sciences in Macon, the Albany Museum Of Art and the Columbus Museum.

A detail of a colorful work of textile art by Honey Pierre that features a Black woman, pictured with blue skin, sitting down reading a red book that's open in her left hand. The wallpaper in the background is pink with green flowers, and everything is bright and full of patterns.

Kelsey Siegert, a recent master's graduate from the #UniversityOfGeorgia #LamarDoddSchoolOfArt, recently joined our team as our first William J. Thompson Curatorial Fellow. Here's a little bit more about Siegert as well as the projects she'll be working on.

Kelsey Siegert stands to the right of a sculpture by William J. Thompson titled "Archangel." She wears a gray cardigan and stands with her right hand on her hip, near a lightpost. The scenery all around is lush and green.

The exhibition "Brilliant Exiles" has been on view at two other museums, including the #NationalPortraitGallery, which organized it. But its appearance at the #GeorgiaMuseumOfArt is different because of a unique on-campus partnership. The
