House Republicans on Wednesday made another attempt to answer Donald Trump’s demand for new restrictions on voting nationwide

The effort was the latest attempt by congressional Republicans to pass the Save America Act,
which would ban mail-in ballots and impose new identification requirements on voters when they register and cast ballots.

The latter links back to the former, so it’s not impersonation. Just stupid.
Also stupid: Boss and I are both unable to log in or use the password reset function, so I guess things are just going great… Seems like AI is working out perfectly for them.

How Organizations Use AI: Evidence from ChatGPT

Abstract: We study how organizations use frontier generative AI by linking ChatGPT Enterprise account records to usage, worker roles, task classifications, and public-company financial data through March 2026. These linked data enable a privacy-preserving analysis of adoption, worker roles, and message-level tasks at scale: for instance, the worker-level sample we analyze at the six-month adoption horizon includes over 1,500 organizations and over 17 million messages. We document four facts about enterprise AI adoption and use. First, ChatGPT Enterprise usage has grown rapidly due to a combination of new firm adoption and growing intensity among existing adopters. Second, U.S.-based public company adoption is concentrated among larger, more valuable, and more R&D- and SG&A-intensive firms. Third, active use within adopting firms spans job functions and seniority levels, with especially high usage intensity among early-career workers. Fourth, ChatGPT Enterprise usage encompasses a broad range of knowledge work tasks, including writing, technical work, communication, and information synthesis. In aggregate, these results suggest that firms differ widely in the speed, breadth and purpose of their enterprise AI adoption, and that they are still actively learning how to integrate AI into organizational workflows.

This is the most detailed picture of a human cell ever made 🧪
instagram.com/reel/DX1CGIZMKJs

Sam Bousaba on Instagram: "This is a single human cell. The white filament-like structures are microtubules, and the small colored particles are ribosomes. Your body contains on the order of ~37 trillion cells. Each cell functions like a highly organized, self-regulating factory operating continuously. There is no central “supervisor”—yet thousands of processes run in parallel with remarkable coordination. Every ribosome is constantly building proteins by linking amino acids together. In eukaryotic (human) cells, a ribosome typically adds about 5–10 amino acids per second (not ~20). Since a single cell can contain millions of ribosomes, protein production is massive—resulting in millions to tens of millions of peptide bonds formed per second per cell. The microtubules act as an internal transport network. Motor proteins such as kinesin move along these tracks, carrying cellular cargo. They “walk” step by step using ATP, at speeds of roughly 500–1000 nanometers per second. Each cell contains a dense network of these filaments, with many motor proteins moving simultaneously. Just beneath the cell membrane lies the actin cortex, a dynamic meshwork that helps maintain cell shape and resist mechanical stress. This structure is continuously remodeled—assembled and disassembled—allowing the cell to adapt to its environment. Now scale this up. Across ~37 trillion cells, each containing millions of ribosomes and hundreds to thousands of mitochondria, your body is constantly producing energy in the form of ATP. Total ATP turnover is enormous—roughly equivalent to your body weight in ATP recycled every day. The DNA in a single human cell, if stretched out, measures about 2 meters. Across all your cells, this would span distances comparable to traveling from Earth to the Sun and back many times (the exact multiple depends on assumptions about cell count and DNA packing). None of these processes are under conscious control. They began when you were a single cell and have continued uninterrupted ever since."

Sidewall effects on the onset of interfacial Holmboe waves in stratified exchange flows at high Schmidt number
Guilherme Siqueira de Aquino, Metten M. de Lange, Adrien Lefauve, Matias Duran-Matute
arxiv.org/abs/2607.19565 arxiv.org/pdf/2607.19565 arxiv.org/html/2607.19565
arXiv:2607.19565v1 Announce Type: new
Abstract: Predicting the onset of interfacial instabilities is central to understanding turbulent mixing in natural and engineered stratified shear flows. Here, we study the onset of travelling Holmboe waves in confined exchange flows along a slope. Earlier stratified inclined duct experiments have mapped this transition, and stability analyses based on measured or prescribed profiles have explained their emergence. However, a predictive criterion linking forcing, geometry, base flow, and wave onset was still lacking. We closed this gap with a long-duct, sharp-interface asymptotic theory for the three-dimensional laminar exchange flow, including the effects of sidewall friction. The resulting analytical solution naturally identifies a confinement-adjusted Froude number, $Fr^*$, which unifies the effects of forcing and confinement into a single measure of the effective laminar exchange flow. Using this solution to parameterise sidewall drag in a practical width-averaged model, we perform linear stability analyses and numerical simulations at high Schmidt number. Together, linear stability analysis, direct numerical simulations, and existing experiments across a range of duct widths show that wave onset is accurately predicted by an approximately constant critical value of $Fr^*$. Deviations arise only in very narrow ducts, where sidewalls influence instability not only by modifying the laminar exchange flow but also by directly damping perturbations and delaying wave onset. These findings provide a predictive criterion for wave onset, reconcile long-standing discrepancies among experimental configurations, and establish lateral confinement as a fundamental control on the transition from laminar exchange to wave-driven mixing in stratified shear flows.
