Yet another example of how the real world refuses to comply with the human need to classify and label things.
The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) is tracking an ongoing storm named Kujira that had passed over northern Luzon island and is expected to pass over it again.
The Philippines’ weather agency, PAGASA, considers this system to be two, named Luis from July 29 to August 3, and Maymay from August 4. It considers Luis to have dissipated when it passed over Luzon.

The video #Megaconstellation threat to astronomy (and more) is linked in the sidebar of the ESO release but deserves a separate shout-out. Also learned that the actual paper has just been formally published in aanda.org/articles/aa/pdf/fort - and see gizmodo.com/eso-study-finds-th for an article.

just got this new "discord" thing from a bbs, takes a while to dial up but it's worth it!

A Windows 3.x desktop. showing "Discord 1.3 for MS Windows". There's a menu bar at the top with some options (File, Edit, Server, Command, Join, Attach...), a sidebar that can be set to show channels or members, and a chat box at the bottom with a "Send!" button. The main chat area shows "Not connected to a server! Use Alt+S to select one...". Program Manager and File Manager are running as icons in the background.

I can't even put into words anymore how often GitHub has cost me like 10 minutes because their search is so fucking broken
There are 7 results according to the sidebar, but none according to the actual results thing, wtf

I'm the kinda guy to just add to a sea of tabs in my tab strip/sidebar and I don't mind, Suggest will pull it if I forget. If I wanted, I can use container tabs in the same consistent UI (that can seamlessly be turned into vertical tabs in vanilla FF) and I don't think I'm missing out on anything.

Oh great. So Matsodon v4.6.0 deletes the very small amount of web customisation I could have?
It was really only colour & sidebar placement, but it made a difference.
