My favourite hammock for on our balcony broke and landed me on my ass, last month. Just got around to fixing it with parts of a new lashing strap that's rated for much more weight than me. The hammock itself is still in good shape, so this should last me some more years, now.
(I got the hammock from Kickstarter years ago, in a time when I was still fascinated by that website...

A bright green fabric hammock suspended on a balcony. The hammock is attached to a metal frame at the top, which is then secured to the balcony structure with straps. A black cat is visible lying on the balcony floor near the hammock, and various outdoor furniture and household items are in the background.
Close-up of two white fabric straps with purple stitching where they are looped and attached to carabiners, with a brown strap hanging down in the center. In the background, out of focus, is a light-colored outdoor shade and a glimpse of green trees.
The old strap, with a fix I attempted earlier. Of course, the strap was too short and resulted in a lopsided hammock. A coiled grey or tan strap with a small, dark fabric loop at one end, resting on a pillow with a red and grey plaid pattern.

50 years of reunification, the end of the second Indochina war, #Vietnam had a blast with a mammoth celebration. The nationalism is troubled but it goes strong. An entire day of a parade in Saigon and on TV, and we had a tank in the newspaper 🤷
Interesting, since it’s the final days abroad for us

Lots of tiny red Vietnam flags lined up across a tree, blue sky avoce and curbside below
A cardboard build your own tank as part of the newspaper. A gift to readers, all under the header of 50 years of glory, the propaganda of the government. The longer you read about propaganda propaganda, the less dramatic it sounds. But lest not forget that this was a civil war and that there's a history with a yellow flag, communities still strong, e.g., in the US

We visited my parents yesterday and I decided to bring along my PS5/VR2 to see if my Dad would be interested in checking it out.
He was, so I hooked it up to their (20 year old and about to quit) TV and got it set up and tested for a minute with No Man's Sky to make sure everything was working as intended.
Dropped the hat on his head and set him up a custom save, all settings tuned to "easy mode", no combat or damage, all slots unlocked etc so he would be able to j…

Every other year the sentiment towards The Simpsons swings from "I don't mind, they're having fun with what they have, the show is even getting a little introspective" to "They should've ended 20 years ago, which is coincidentally when I stopped watching TV in general" either relative indifference or wishing the medium of television didn't make it through the 00s.
