These nature/wildlife photos from the 2025 Mangrove Photography Awards are so great, it's tough to choose just four for preview images below 🤯 😍
The first two (mangrove under the Milky Way, hermit crab) were winners, the others were runners up (tigers) and highly commended (crocodile).
All 14 images here are a must see:

We revisit the electronic structure and band topology of monolayer 1H-NbSe$_2$, which hosts both superconductivity and charge density wave, and its related compounds 1H-MoS$_2$, NbS$_2$, TaS$_2$, TaSe$_2$ and WS$_2$. We construct a 6-band, a 3-band, and - simplest of all - a single-band model for this material family, by directly Wannierizing the ab initio bands. Calamus 30 A promise and gift to California
Well they can't all be winners. A tedious poem of Western fantasy. Appropriately aspirational for 1860 but not a particularly interesting nor unique sentiment. Also an unkept promise: Whitman never reached the west coast.
Looking for my gay reading, all I have is this:

I do like Whitman's lustiness, in this case his "robust love". We know a thing or two about that in California.

This paper introduces a state-dependent momentum framework that integrates ESG regime switching with tail-risk-aware reward-risk metrics.
