Uber and Lyft were just not meant to be, says Travis Kalanick.
The former Uber CEO said he has no regrets about how he handled a potential acquisition of Lyft.
Uber-Lyft talks in 2014 collapsed over valuation disagreements and cultural mismatches.
Kalanick recently launched robotics company Atoms and raised $1.7 billion for the startup.

For #ThrowbackThursday - a set of scanned photo prints from my 1997 visit at the Oberwolfach institute followed by some tourist time in Frankfurt. Apparently at the time I was more interested in photos of landscapes than of the other famous visitors at the workshop on Schubert varieties.

Folks in the US right now: Government secret police are still kidnaping people off the streets. A huge chunk of GDP has been dumped into an unprofitable grift. The entire economy has collapsed, except for the part propped up by building data centers that nobody wants, using loans based on no collateral. Basically the entire upper class have either been actively involved in child sex trafficking or ignored it. The president is a pedophile who started a war he can't win to distract from the fact that he's in the Epstein Files. No one can afford anything. People can't even afford diapers. Do something, or this country is going to explode.

Trump’s decision to keep National Guard troops deployed to Washington, D.C.,
through the end of his term will cost an additional $1.4 billion in taxpayer funds,
according to budget estimates provided to Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s office and shared with NOTUS.
The new estimates cover the time period from October 2026 through January 2029,

Turkmenistan has started plugging the mega-leaks of methane
that spew from its ageing oil and gas facilities,
the latest UN data shows, in a move hailed as a breakthrough.
Methane, also called natural or fossil gas,
is a potent greenhouse gas.
It traps 80 times more heat than carbon dioxide
