1/ Last year I had to spend time with someone who votes far-right.
I could have avoided all political discussions but I gave it a try - knowing about the risc!
At some topics I said: I don't want to discuss that, I have a strong opinion there but let's skip that please.
At other topics, the discussions got heated until I said: waait. We don't need to fight. We agree to disagree. But none of us can change it. Our duty is to vote, not to fight each other. And I d…
»Why Shortened URLs Pose a Security Risk«
On Mastodon / Fediverse, shortening the URL is not necessary at all, because they are not marked in their full length. Apart from the shorter tracking, their data collection frenzy as well as their timing is also very inconvenient.

TARRANT: Like capturing us.
HOWER: Do you feel ill, or upset in any way?
DAYNA: No. What was it, some kind of narcotic spray gun?
HOWER: Something like that. Quite harmless, I assure you.
TARRANT: I'm glad to hear it.

Nice blog in the discussion about AI & coding,
"AI can replace most of programming, but programming isn’t the job.
Programming is a task. It’s one of many things you do as part of your work. But if you’re a software engineer, your actual job is more than typing code into an editor."

Abstract: Periodic timetables are widely adopted in passenger railway operations due to their regular service patterns and well-coordinated train connections. However, fluctuations in passenger demand require varying train services across different periods, necessitating adjustments to the periodic timetable. This study addresses a hybrid periodic train timetabling problem, which enhances the flexibility and demand responsiveness of a given periodic timetable through schedule adjustments and aperiodic train insertions, taking into account the rolling stock circulation. Since timetable modifications may affect initial passenger routes, passenger routing is incorporated into the problem to guide planning decisions towards a passenger-oriented objective. Using a time-space network representation, the problem is formulated as a dynamic railway service network design model with resource constraints. To handle the complexity of real-world instances, we propose a decomposition-based algorithm integrating Benders decomposition and column generation, enhanced with multiple preprocessing and accelerating techniques. Numerical experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of the algorithm and highlight the advantage of hybrid periodic timetables in reducing passenger travel costs.

I sometimes wish that questionnaires about autism-related topics came with the option "Strongly agree but I've trained myself not to do that"
Questionnaires don't seem to account for masking, which seems a major design flaw for this area of study? #ActuallyAutistc
