I am not going to sit here and lie to you that I wrote this bash script all by myself. Yeah, I had it already (mostly), but got bored of reading man pages and borrowing from other people's scripts on the Internet and instead had THE best chat with Gemini ever, in which we both learned from our mistakes 😁
PS The sick CachyOS logo was entirely Gemini's idea. Good job AI buddy 😎

A bash script to output some system info, like:

CachyOS x86_64
Linux kernel: 6.18.8-3-cachyos
Mesa: 25.3.4-arch1.2
Proton: cachyos-10.0.20260203-1
KDE Plasma: 6.5.5
KDE Frameworks: 6.22.0
Qt: 6.10.2
Graphics Platform: Wayland

I applied the three finger salute to the two pieces of software that is not responsive after two hours. We used to have semi-decent software, but lately the piss-poor upgrades and AI SLOP has infected the "productivity" software. I could update 5 documents, generate PDF for each and rebuild the release folder index in one day or a day and a half if the VPN was slow. All I got done (day 2 of frustration) was three of the smallest documents, on the midsize document it choked and I…

Yeah, why not neglect all the good recommendations in the #Python ecosystem, and instead fork your own C extension package, force people to build it with #ZigLang (it's still C), add unconditional dependency on that, and on top of that, refuse to publish wheels, "allowing for optimised compilation according to your machine's specific architecture and capabilities, instead of some (low performance) common denominator."
Fortunately, looks like #Gentoo can just ignore all the fancy crap and compile it with GCC.

✅The step throws a lifeline to Palestinians who want to leave for medical care or return to homes and families after two years of war.
The passage, near the city of Rafah, in southern Gaza,
was seized by Israeli soldiers in May 2024
and had been mostly closed since then,
other than for a brief time during a temporary cease-fire last winter.

Have you ever wondered to what extend LLMs are used to support writing of scientific publications? Here is a chart indicating the fraction of LLM-modified sentences in scientific publications over time.
c.f. Liang et al, Mapping the Increasing Use of LLMs in Scientific Papers (2024)
arxiv.org/html/2404.01268v1

Estimated Fraction of LLM-Modified Sentences across Academic Writing Venues over Time. This figure displays the fraction (α) of sentences estimated to have been substantially modified by LLM in abstracts from various academic writing venues. The analysis includes five areas within arXiv (Computer Science, Electrical Engineering and Systems Science, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics), articles from bioRxiv, and a combined dataset from 15 journals within the Nature portfolio. Estimates are based o…

Does anyone work in a place where y’all are actually happy with your website and esp. tracking capabilities for clicks, views, journeys across pages?
I keep hearing every company I ever work with even tangentially complain that their site and analytics are bad and that they need to improve, but I’ve never actually seen anyone get to the state of it not being supposedly bad?
Does that even exist or is everyone just lying to themselves?
