Elite propaganda.
Medieval knights were a bloodthirsty elite. Armour allowed them to cut down commoners with relative impunity, and they did. The myth of the 'parfait gentil knicht' is entirely propaganda.

Two books from my research shelf: 'The History of the English Longbow' by Donald Featherstone, and 'The Use of Medieval Weaponry' by Eric Lowe. Both of these I'd recommend.
My own home-made longbow, with its quiver and arrows, and my practice longsword.

Just occurred to me the juxtaposition of the 2 games I been playing lately.
Valheim. Vikings! Trolls! Gods! Hit shit with axes and arrows, cut down trees to build cabins! Run everywhere, take forever to get there!
No Man's Sky (in VR) Space! Teleports! Fly across a solar system in a minute or less! Alien creatures, pirates, Sentinels! Shoot lasers pew pew! .. ok you can still cut down trees to build cabins, if you wanna.

So what happens when Trump strokes out while watching Kid Rock wrestle a Hulk Hogan impersonator in a televised barbed-wire cage match on the White House lawn that one of Trump's cronies has exclusive pay-per-view rights to? I mean, it's possible that the Democratic leadership will step up and insist on some form of regular order in the succession to Vance, but come on.
It is more likely that Vance – a weak, unimportant charisma-vacuum who is loathed by all of Trump's factions – will end up presiding over a far more chaotic period in American governance than anything that happened under Trump. That could mean ICE leaders ordering mass graves dug in the centers of America's largest cities, drunken generals invading random countries, podcasters declaring "The Purge" with brackets sponsored by Kalshi. Sneak peek at the new toolbar artwork landing in the ngscopeclient v0.2 release. Anyone have feedback for the artist before we finalize all of the renders at all the resolutions etc?
Redrawn by the same artist who did the application icon/logo, with an emphasis on readability and clarify and more use of color to be readable at small sizes. The "glow" effect of the original icons looked cool but really impaired readability (it might have worked at much larger sizes.

The program for a Stratford Festival reading of the first two episodes of "The Amateurs", a prequel to "Slings and Arrows", written by Susan Coyne, Bob Martin, and Mark McKinney. The cast of 17 includes all of the original series' regulars as well as current Stratford company members.

We should really get some kind of web browser with gamepad UI for Linux. It'd be useful for the Steam Deck, Steam Machine and for anyone that likes keeping their PC connected to their TV.
I got one of those PC 2.4GHz USB remote controllers, but having a TV-like or console-like UI would make using it a better experience too since in addition to the keyboard and gyroscope it does have many TV-like buttons such as directional controls and stuff. Some apps work ok with those since it maps to keyboard arrows keys, but still not the ideal UI for that.
