"Bill Gates has never received a résumé from anyone who read all of TAOCP. There’s an urban legend (now sadly debunked) that Steve Jobs told Knuth he had “read all of his books”, to which Knuth replied “you are full of crap”.
While that tale is not true, nobody including Steve Jobs can say that they have read all of TAOCP. The reason is simple: it isn’t finished yet."

„Immer mehr Anleger sehen in Agrarflächen einen sicheren Hafen und einen wirksamen Schutz gegen eine inflationäre Geldpolitik. Land ist nicht beliebig vermehrbar, und die Nachfrage danach steigt kontinuierlich, ob durch Siedlungsbau, Verkehr oder die Energiewende. Seit der Finanzkrise ist das Interesse an stabilen Sachwerten stark gewachsen und neben Gold rückt dabei Ackerland zunehmend in den Fokus.“

"A society under “number go up” tends towards evil. The men and women behind an excessively high rate of return often make deeply sinful and immoral choices, little different than the Confederate plantation owners did in whipping slaves or lords in castles did when abusing serfs. That they do it with spreadsheets doesn’t make it better. (We even use old terminology: I know of several people in a large health insurance conglomerate who set policies to deny care whose nickname is “the three witches.”)
And that’s why Jeff Epstein’s story is so compelling, it expresses this evil in a way that we all understand. On Sunday, I wrote about the oddness of the story, how an elite sex trafficker convicted of procuring children as prostitutes was friends or associates with everyone from Trump to Bill Clinton to Larry Summers to Bill Gates. Epstein represents how elites live in one moral universe where evil bacchanalia is rampant, while the rest of us live in a different more normal one. Every society has elites, and there are always weird things that elites do. But America, and the West, have reached a point where there is increasingly deep resentment and cynicism about this divide."

Memoirs of the CP/M creator released:
“Our father, Gary Kildall, was one of the founders of the personal computer industry, but you probably don’t know his name. Those who have heard of him may recall the myth that he ‘missed’ the opportunity to become Bill Gates by going flying instead of meeting with IBM. Unfortunately, this tall tale paints Gary as a ‘could-have-been,’ ignores his deep contributions, and overshadows his role as an inventor of key technologies that define how compute…

Waiter:"I'm just amazed because on the same table your daughter gave Tip Of ... $500... and you her Father, the richest man in the world Only Gave $5...?"

Gates smiled and replied with meaningful words, "She is daughter of the world's richest man, but I am the son of a wood cutter."

Making Firefox/Mozilla dependent on money from Google was a gigantic misstep. It should never have happened.
Firefox has become an alibi for Google against claims of monopolistic behavior. It is a repeat of how Bill Gates saved Apple except that Firefox seems to be on permanently boxed in by Google.

"Here is the thing: the video describes, at an excruciatingly slow pace (at least by the standards of our generation’s TikTok-formatted brains), with the terms and phraseology of 1968, and during no less than one and a half hours, the very computer you are using to read this article. Yes, the one on your lap or on your desk."
