Linux Ported to #WebAssembly, Boots in a Browser Tab - Slashdot
In schools, it's pretty common to use a "locked-down browser" (eg, during tests) on Chromebooks. I was more surprised to hear from my kid that this also exists on MacOS. How does this work? Does it use Lockdown Mode? How is an app able to enable this, instead of the user?
AFAIK the work on native messaging for flatpaks (and snaps) is done so that KeePassXC and KeePassXC Browser could finally talk to each other again. But I could not find out what's still missing. Does my OS need an update of the xdg portals? Do the browser vendors need to support the portal? Currently, it's Zen and Vivaldi which are sandboxed. Or is it the browser extension or KeePassXC itself?

What's the go-to for non-Microsoft non-Google email hosting these days?
Requirements:
* Supports proper RFC compliant SMTP/IMAP TLS access. No oauth, no EWS, no exchange nonsense. Needs to be usable on e.g. a headless box without a web browser, command line clients, etc.
* Reasonably priced for a handful of accounts across a bunch of domains
* Setup and forget third party hosting, I don't have an IP block suitable for mail hosting in house and I don't want …
I use multiple Web browsers during the day, 1 for personal stuff, and another 1 (or several other ones) for work.

Web devs have spent decades on secure protocols to ensure your browser isn't a free pass for malicious pages to scrape your email and bank account. AI just broke them.

based on how you worded the poll I voted yes
Fun fact: My website renders fine and is completely usable on the Wii U browser!
One area where I think I can do better is to have some sort of Asset browser in Xogot. I do not think that finding files by name is great - and I am lacking an icon view for the file browser.
I am unfamiliar with the space (other than Googling "Unity Asset Browser") and the Final Cut iPad browser - which seems insufficient.
Do you have a favorite tool or UI that you like that you recommend to me?
Not only Gmail has been infested with bad AI, but also other Google products. Chrome has a "help me write" feature. You can [disable it in the AI innovations settings](chrome://settings/ai). Unfortunately the intrusive popup is still showing up in Gmail and I can't find any way to turn it off. (See image)
There's also a Chrome setting that allows better browser history search. I've wanted that for years so I've turned that one on for now. Maybe it's better than all the other Gemini crap?
A long time ago, when I've used the #Opera browser (the real one), I've discovered mouse #gestures. Even though I've only used the basic ones like back / forward / reload / close tab, I've found them brilliant. To this day, I can't comprehend why not only modern browsers rejected this feature, but also why it didn't become widespread across desktop GUIs.
But then, today the peak application #UX is a website packed in a vulnerable low quality embedded browser. And designers are blindly trying to copy bad mobile designs into desktop PC applications, with no consideration how ill fit they are.

My answer is NO to AI in a browser. All I want is for a browser to go to the URL and render the page. A search site to provide me a list of sites that meet my query, not a hallucination of a list. The page that is edited by a person presenting real information and not AI slop.
And yes, I do use AI at times at work. I use it to quickly find documents, but I will do the review to see if they are relevant.
