Tried to make a square shape New York Cheesecake for the first time yesterday. It was meant to be shared at a party and I thought it would be easier to share in smaller pieces. It came out good I think. The base was solid enough to get the out of the pan. I also properly caramelized the top of the base so it doesn't soak as quickly

I keep thinking about working from a coffee shop... but what is the etiquette?
For example...
How much coffee and cake do I need to consume for every hour I am there?
Do I go for some kind of coffee crawl, moving from coffee shop to coffee shop, buying a drink from each one, staying for 30 mins or so?
I will be buzzing after the first couple of hours 😅
Co-working spaces are so very expensive... the one I used to go to didn't survive lockdown.

Changing the name to mangowm almost kept me from using it. Looking forward to a geek-out with maomao (the original name) today. From what I read it can combine tiling and scrolling. A short compile on Slackware was a piece of cake; advantage of the kitchensink is that all prerequisites are already installed.

Not sure about other places, but for those contributing, the PVD food drive we're contributing to says the things they are most short on are:
- cooking oil
- instant mashed potatoes
- instant coffee
- instant cake mix
(Unsurprisingly, food pantries are full of canned goods…)

I saw an article about how good the food options are that are associated with churches. So I went to a Vietnamese place called O BACH across the road from Bunnings in Tuggeranong and had a pretty nice banh mi. Nice crispy bun!

I ran a #paranoia game for my eldest and their friends yesterday. The party made it to outfitting before they lost their first two clones although there was quite a lot of random laser fire in the transport to the mission briefing before that.

Not surprised. I found stuff that looked great. I am fairly experienced at baking and part of them didn't turn out. Going over them afterwards I should have clued in on the temperatures for the candies. I have made fudges and candies for decades and thought maybe they knew something that I didn't. They turned out to be almost as runny as cold syrup and will be used as a topping for fruit cake with ice cream.

Why did I have to take a closer look to find the cherry on the cake for my report???
Now the case I'm working on... which I planned to finish before lunch today ... will haunt me for another ~3 months 😩
