Signal down due to AWS issues. Maybe centralization really isn’t such a great idea. Who would have thought.

Random thought: the centralization of authentication to a few big OAuth providers like MS and Google, combined with services that time out your cookies and force relogins every so often, makes phishing people so much easier.
Want someone's account creds? Just pop up something that looks like a ms or google login form, odds are they're so conditioned by login fatigue that they'll automatically type their creds and TOTP token into it.

The Ruby ecosystem is going through some pretty hefty turmoil in an attempt to rescue and restore the integrity of their community.
I’m even seeing some good efforts in PHP-land to better distance itself from the vacuum of stable leadership in WordPress too.
Is there any such movement in JavaScript (the same problems exist)? The biggest pattern I’m seeing is a *huge* centralization in project funding!

The real villain in the story of ghost towns in Newfoundland is the government resettlement program. In 1965, a five-year federal-provincial partnership was established, and the Centralization Program was launched. It was later renamed the Fisheries Household Resettlement Program. Here's some very scary history.... oooooo.

@… I hesitate to give any answer that suggests more centralization but (imo) investing in community that isn’t centered on specific tools and infrastructure would be a great start
