Sometimes I get frustrated with the conversations around communism/socialism/capitalism. Did communism in the USSR work? No, because it concentrated all the resources with a privileged group that became corrupt. Did socialism work as practiced in many countries? Not if it concentrated all the resources with a privileged group.
Does capitalism work? Sometimes. If it's counterbalanced with regulation and social safety nets. Otherwise, capitalism runs into the same problems as socialism/communism. Market forces concentrate wealth with a privileged class that becomes corrupted. Because power corrupts. Even if that power belongs to a privileged group rather than one despotic ruler. (Forgive the amateur art, doing my best)
