Most EEs know that compensating a passive R-C scope probe is important to get a good view of the signal.
But have you ever seen what this looks like in the frequency domain?
I messed up the compensation on one of my LeCroy passive probes and compared the scalar S21 response to it after correctly compensating.

Two graphs of probe frequency response. The incorrectly compensated (red) has peaking up to +8 dB at some frequencies, large ripples almost 4 dB high, and a large low-frequency dip to nearly 0 dB. The correctly compensated is between -1 and +2 dB from DC to 625 MHz.
