The only thing I will give Carney credit for at this point is a building roster of Canadian military procurement decisions that have increased both our independence and our allyship with non-USA players.
The submarine deal is going to be a huge one both on the industrial capacity front and the impact on alliances. I suspect, and hope, that regardless of the decision, the open competition and dialogue it has created in both the European and Asian spheres will pay dividends to Canada's standing in the world.

NPR just updated its language on the Alito correction. The original stated that the Totenberg piece “was published in error,” which is what newsrooms often say when a story is true but was published prematurely. Now it says Alito “has not announced his retirement.”
