Das gute an Deadlines ist ja, dass man jede Menge anderen Kram erledigt bekommt, den man sonst weg prokrastiniert hätte.
Life hack*: Put dentist or scary doctor's appointments on the same day as important and also scary work commitments (talks, deadlines) - then the stress at work won't leave time to worry about the other thing 🙃
* In a few weeks I'll report back whether this works or was just a colossally stupid idea leading to failure in both work and life appointment 🙈

Since the start of the semester I feel like being hunted by an angry pack of looming deadlines: everything seems to cluster around October 31 and mid-November.
But! I have now finished all work-related tasks due October 31, and it's only the 28!

"In a world of limited capital and urgent climate deadlines, the prudent course is to double down on the technologies that are delivering now and keep nuclear in a narrow test lane with clear stop rules."

I'd like to ask a question:
Working in research at a university comes with a lot of freedom in terms of working hours and workplace design (within limits, of course). Job advertisements often label this as “flexible.”
This can lead to exploitation, so as a supervisor, I make sure that monthly working hours are balanced out in a timely manner, that vacations are actually vacations, etc.
But: sometimes it's just hectic, then deadlines, conferences elsewhere, etc.
