Between December 2023 and July 2025, 18,000 businesses have closed and 253,800 registered jobs have been lost, according to the Centre for Argentine Political Economy (CEPA). Alongside the exchange rate freeze, which made Argentina the most expensive country in South America, Milei’s government – unlike Donald Trump’s – has reduced or scrapped tariffs, leaving heavily taxed local industries at a disadvantage against Chinese imports.

Good Morning #Canada
The month of December will typical put a dent in your paycheck, or January if you're using your credit cards, so it's tough to save any money. Canadians rank 21st worldwide with regards to how much of our salary we put into a savings account. According to World Population Review, we put away approximately 7% of our paycheck for a #RainyDay, far behind South Korea at 35%. I'm retired and therefore not a saver at this point, but even during my most successful earnings period I can't imagine I would have been able to put away a third of my salary.
I suspect the savings percentage is driven by a small group of high wage earners as individual Canadian debt has increased. According to Equifax, total consumer debt in Canada reached $2.56 trillion at the end of 2024, a 4.6 per cent increase over 2023.

1) Emissions of greenhouse gases are still rising
2) The degree of decoupling is far from enough
3) for the United Kingdom, the reduction 2015-2023 was -18.41%, average
-2.51% per year. To reach net zero emissions by 2050, an annual reduction of 10% is needed.
4) Those decoupling countries are not compensating for the growth in emissions elsewhere.

just looking at my archive of postgresql backups over the past 2 years of my mastodon instance.
In December 2023 just shy of 1 year since spinning it up, the compressed gz file of the database was 600MB.
By Aug 2024 it was 988MB
In April 2025 it was 1500MB
Today it is 1800MB.
That is a 2 user instance. Not small!
