RE: hachyderm.io/@thomasfuchs/1158
It should be noted that Ted Nelson here has a bit of a naive viewpoint, as the reasons for how a machine is designed and why it exists are because people made it and people literally always have an agenda.
In other words, a machine exists because it does something that a person actively decided it should—it is the embodiment of non-neutrality.

Content warning: My opinion on Intelligence, as an actual AI researcher in the past

Intelligence cannot be without embodiment. Physical presence and manipulation is not an addition to an intelligent being, but a requirement.
Intelligence does not only require understanding but also manipulating.

Ok, predictions for 2026. In my field:
1) A leap forward in embodiment. Something like a robot folding laundry in an apartment it hasn't seen before. Control and safety will not be solved and pose a major headache.
2)The bubble will not burst this year, unless there is an economic downturn from other causes.
3) LLMs trained specifically to manipulate humans (i.e. maximize engagement games. social media) will become a serious problem.
