After our first meal on Norderney, no less than four waiters approached us to make small talk, only to then interrupt themselves with a sudden question of: "Espresso?"
"So where are you from?" ... "Oh wow, I have an uncle who lives there! Espresso?"
This all being in German—not my native tongue—this was more than a little confusing and caught me by surprise each time. Certainly an interesting marketing strategy.
The empanadas were nice though. …
