Follow the trail. First /24 in the first /16 goes to IT Hostline. If that means nothing to you maybe go look at who #AS44559 peers with.

Yet another gotcha when implementing a #Terraform resource with a WriteOnly attribute: since there is no state kept between runs, you cannot require replacement of the resource if the configured value changes because there is nothing to compare it to 🙃
In my case, the WriteOnly attribute contains a file content, so the WriteOnly attribute value is hashed and the hash is stored as part o…
Anybody else wish C and C had named function arguments like SystemVerilog module ports, and allowed you to default-value an optional argument in any position?
foo.bar(
.baz(1),
.foobar("hai"),
//foobaz is unspecified and gets a default value
.asdf(42)
);

Oops, #Terraform datasources cannot contain write-only attributes, which means you cannot use a sensitive value in a secure way when configuring a datasource... Which leaves us with ephemeral resources which are not always what we want or passing the sensitive value to the provider (assuming the provider can take that value and pass it along to the datasource), which is not always possible...…
I finally deleted my Twitter account. Created in 2010, got a lot of security news value out of it until around 2022. Then something happened and I created an account on Mastodon and stopped posting at Twitter. Now the value became clearly negative, even for holding an old, inactive account.
We need to stop the endless reporting of whatever claims cybercriminal threat actors make on their leak sites because, in many (most?) cases, they are untrue, and yet so many outlets report them anyway.
In this case, HSBC denies the breach, and yet that doesn't stop folks from writing "news" reports about it. These outlets are taking the frequently false word of cybercriminals at face value and clogging up my news feeds.
Friends, if you, your colleagues, or your organization has the means, especially if you've gotten some value out of rpki-client (also OpenBGPD or StayRTR), please consider donating to the non-profit Route Server Support Foundation (RSSF) to keep the software coming.
This is the important Internet infrastructure kind of stuff that is very deserving, and in need of support.
One of the strongest factors in building and motivating an organization as a leader is saying out loud regularly that you care about people.
As Alicja frames, it's the difference between knowing what ice cream tastes like and actually eating ice cream.
It is so SO meaningful to tell people that you care about them, that you value their expertise and work, that they deserve to be respected and supported, and so on. Customize it to the individual situation: identify what someo…
Curious what the thinking is for an edu to slice off a /24 that ended up at a Bulgarian web hoster.

Is there a name for a number representation system where you store an exponent for an entire dataset, then a mantissa for each value?
So you might have e.g. units=Hz, scale factor=1e6, values=A....Z (measured in MHz)

Universities selling their address space are probably oblivious to where it is going, but they should care. One day people are going to realize a lot of these high rep addresses are getting transferred to very different resource stewards.

This isn't the first transfer to aws.eu. This is the most visible and overt shift in assets by the big U.S. cloud providers I'm aware of. Others (e.g., Google and Microsoft) talk about doing more in the EU and providing isolation, but as far as I can tell Amazon's separation is going a step further.

Presumably even more to HostRoyale. They use edgoo for all upstream.
