Slovenia interestingly has given France a run for it's money.
Let's see where we end up. Thanks all!

Ruth_Mottram - Trying to narrow down summer holiday options. Family travel by train to a self catering holiday destination where swimming, cycling hiking and climbing is possible (as is sitting by the water with a pile of books) lots of fresh air and nature a must. Cities less important. What would you choose (feel free to comment why and be more specific on destination!):

"One ballroom is not enough."
I already imagine this title on movie posters with James Bond.

If you are a middle aged man and need to feel better about your mid-life dad bod, just pull out some Super8mm film of you as a rolly-polly baby. lol
Checking some 8mm film I was given recently by my dad (left). A full viewing and eventual recording/digitizing will be required at some point soon!
This would be from spring or summer 1978.

I grew up listening to #baseball in English on the radio. Over the summer, it was on more or less constantly in garages, backyards, and workshops across the extended family. I find the combination of cadence, tone, background sound, and trivial banter extremely comforting.

I wonder why Oregon ash isn't an approved street tree in San Francisco. Despite the name, its native range includes the city.
Maybe it's because it's native to riparian corridors, so needs summer water even in maturity? Another reason to daylight creeks and plant some along the creeks!

Every time I see the original bright six-color Apple logo, I'm reminded of the Apple ][ donated to our small school just before the end of the school year. I asked the librarian if I could borrow its stack of spiral-bound manuals over the summer. I pored through that stack of manuals as my family road-tripped from Seattle to South Dakota—my mind fully occupied by the information contained within, as my senses took in the feel of the paper and the smell of the books.
