Electrifying everything sounds like the obvious path off fossil fuels, but it requires critical minerals we can’t source quickly enough. Alternative technologies and interventions can cut emissions faster, cheaper, and without mineral bottlenecks.

Tracey Johnson, assistant professor of history and African American studies, picked pieces ranging from the mid-19th century to the present for her survey course HIST 3165: History of Art and Activism in the United States. This course focuses on issues such as racial injustice, homelessness and the HIV/AIDs crisis through the lens of creative activism and protest.

World leaders are getting older
while the populations they govern remain young:
The global average leader is 63,
versus 30 for citizens.
From 90‑year‑old monarchs to 80‑year‑old presidents,
age gaps raise questions about representation.
DW spoke with Aksel Sundstrom,
a political science professor at the University of Gothenburg in Sweden, who focuses on the absence of young people in politics.  

Why are so many world leaders over 70?
The world's leaders median age is 63, while that of the people they govern is in the early 30s. As Donald Trump turns 80, DW asks why older politicians keep getting elected and whether this makes for a problem in representation.
