I want to reiterate, per my earlier thread, that what the ACLU is bringing to court is a small fraction of what’s actually happening on the ground. These are only the incidents for which they have the best documentation, the ones most presentable in court.
You don’t even hear about 95% of the illegal stuff ICE is doing in MN — not in court, not on social media, certainly not on the news. This is the tip of the illegal action iceberg (pun intended, no apologies).

Just as during his first term, El Cheato is stealing money for military housing to use for his pet projects.
During the first term that pet project was "the wall".
Now it is to give "bonuses" to active military personnel.
In both cases this means reduced, or no, housing for military families - which is what Congress intended when that taxpayer money was appropriated.
"Trump’s $1,776 ‘warrior dividend’ repurposed from military housing aid"…

“sudden, brutal and terrifying”
ACLU hits ICE with what will be the first of multiple legal actions over ICE’s illegal and unacceptable behavior in Minnesota.
My hope is that this is the road to an injunction.

I’m an industry dev turned comp sci prof. I’ve been writing code for 40-some years; my first commercial software was for the Apple ][ . I’ve worked on web, mobile, desktop, server, and data plumbing projects for companies ranging from startups to Fortune 100 to arts nonprofits. In short, I’ve been lucky to know a lot of people in a lot of corners of tech.
@…’s opening paragraphs are spot on. If consensus is not 100%, well, it’s 99%.

Something that just drives me up the wall about this particular area of Git (merge conflicts) is that, beyond the all-too-typical Git problem of sloppy terminology, this is bad feature design. In most situations, “use ours” and “user theirs” are •both• the wrong answer! There are two doors, and they’re •both• trapdoors.
If you have a merge conflict, that means that you changed something •and• somebody else changed something, and your job is to •synthesize• both changes. To use one is to discard the other, which is usually not what you want!
The thing Git (and every Git GUI) ought to surface is a three-way merge: show me what I changed and what they changed ••relative to the nearest common ancestor••. Yes yes yes, I know it’s possible to finagle that into view with Git. It should be the danged default. It is what I should see first. It is what I should see if I have no idea what I’m doing.
