Thanks to @… I'm working on the next improvement to my Single-Paddle Morse code key. I thought that adding the stabilizer bar to the bottom had solved the problem of accidentally keying by squeezing the body of the key too firmly, …

FreeCAD screen shot showing a single-paddle key with a highlighted bar that represents a set screw (or grub screw) that holds the arms apart.
FreeCAD screen shot without the new grub screw present, showing that the hole for mounting it is on only one side, pressing against the other side.

I just installed `asncounter`[1] by @… (blog post[2]) to get a glimpse who is accessing one of my servers. Turns out, 99% of the traffic originates from just two ASNs in Brazil: Mega Tele Informatica and R3 Telecom. I'm in Germany, my server is in Germany (I believe, it's a Hetzner root server).
I guess I could safely block these ASNs. The only thi…

Today I released version 0.7 of my print-in place single-paddle Morse code key.
This will function as release notes:

  • The most important practical change is that the slot in the lever for the stabilizer bar is taller, so that it doesn't bind. Previously, it sometimes bound depending on luck, and when it didn't bind, needed to be greased with a light lubricant.
Morse code key inserted into a handle for easier keying. The Morse code key is red, the hardware is brass, and the handle is blue.
The print-in-place morse code key connected to an M32 Pocket Morserino set in decoding mode. The Morserino has just decoded "cq" sent with this key.

Well I guess I'll have to teach caldav-event-pusher¹ to first check which fields survive an event upload...

More radicale goodness on :nixos: NixOS: services.radicale.git can now sync regularly and on change via radicale with multiple remotes. Currently, it'll prioritise the remote's state in case of conflicts. It's so amazing to have a git history of your calendar and addressbook! 🤩

services.radicale.git.enable=true now makes nicer commit messages, for events and contacts it will list the name and even describe renames. Proof of concept, written in bash/awk. It'll be hard to write a diff-parser that covers all kinds of changes, I guess having a local LLM could do it, but it'd slow down radicale significantly.

A git diff of radicale's collection directory, commit messages show me (yann) creating a lunch event, renaming that to lunch (with team), then deleting it, then creating a Peter Pan contact, then renaming it to Peter Pancake.

I noticed that the aarch64 git annex standalone build test suite (emulated on NixOS under x86_64) is *far* slower than the the nixpkgs-provided one:

# ... takes ~8min
