I'm reading an Evelyn Anthony book, The Defector, and I'm gripped. This specific copy used to be on the bookshelf along with many others by her in the room I stayed at in my grandparents's house, and I used to think, aged eight or so, that they looked the most boring books on earth. Now decades later I'm really enjoying them. I think this change in perspective and growing appreciation of things is one the aspects of getting older that I really treasure.

I was at a ska show tonight. The Toasters & Mustard Plug. With a fresh reminder to not let the bastards drag you down.
It made me think about the current younger generation. What is their angry rebellious music? Maybe I'm not seeing it. But they don't seem angry enough, which is concerning.
It makes me think the kids aren't all right. Meanwhile here I am, growing older all the time, doing everything I can, thinking I'm a Superman.
