Die Gesamtfläche ist in den letzten zwei Jahrzehnten um mehr als die Hälfte geschrumpft. Bis 2030 wird ein Drittel für immer verschwunden sein, schreiben die Glaziologen Andrea Fischer und Hans Wiesenegger in einer Bilanz zum zu Ende gehenden Internationalen Jahr der Gletscher.
