December 8th, 1869, Timothy Eaton opened a small dry-goods and haberdashery business at 178 Yonge Street in the city of Toronto. From that humble start grew a national retail chain that eventually would bring Christmas Window Displays that attracted crowds for 100 years, and the tradition continues today. The heyday for the window displays was the 1940s to 1980s when Eatons and Simpsons competed for children's noses pressed up against their windows. But every store, large or small, had their own creative display in December. In the 1990s retail chains started to falter and disappear and some displays, like those from Woodwards and Ogilvys, were preserved by museums. I remember our annual visit to Eatons and Simpsons on Yonge Street in the early 60s, when Mom and Dad would load up the car with 7 kids and we'd tour the Christmas displays.

Totaal niet goed te praten natuurlijk, maar als ik de medewerkers van de pakketpunten hoor, lijkt het vooral of de pakket bedrijven de hoeveelheden gewoon over de schutting gooien (zijn immers een ander bedrijf) en zoek het maar uit.
Als het boj een pakketpunt zo mis gaat, ia er eerder wat heel erg mis gegaan op een hoger niveau.

After a big family breakfast the #ChristmasTree got trimmed, which is holiday-speak for hanging stuff on it. Besides a string of white LED lights and traditional red and gold ribbon, it is a mixture of unique balls, personal decorations and hand made ornaments. Each of our Christmas stockings will usually have a new ornament, almost always handmade, so after 47 years of marriage we have a large storage container full of tree decorations that got bumped from regular rotation.
One of the decorations posted below is hated by my wife - can you guess which one?

El šlbum se llama "Broken China", de Richard Wright, teclista y cofundador de Pink Floyd. Dos canciones las canta Sinéad O'Connor, y especialmente la canción "Reaching for the rail" me parece una genialidad.
