Omroep WNL was zaterdag aanwezig bij het VVD-congres in Nieuwegein om leden te werven en niet als pers. Dat laat de omroep desgevraagd weten aan het ANP. In een interview dat journalist Roel Maalderink deelde op BlueSky is te zien dat WNL-medewerkers op het congres een badge met 'Pers' erop dragen en chocola en flyers uitdelen. Volgens WNL staat ledenwerving los van het journalistieke werk van de omroep.
